My 3 Presentation Tool Finds

Hello and welcome back!

Last newsletter I talked about my favorite visuals, which was great of course, but what if you just want to make a killer visual or presentation yourself? Welp, that’s what this newsletter is for! I list out some great resources to help you create a “Wow Tim! What a nice deck!” level of presentation and/or visual.

1 - Guide to Better Typography

Did you know that one of the classes Steve Jobs was passionate about in college was calligraphy? In fact, the Mac was one of the first computers to let you customize your fonts. Maybe not the key to his success, but it helped guide his overall visual outlook for his products; simple and beautiful.

This typography guide will help you get an insight to how to utilize typography so that you can create visually stunning presentations. After all, most of any slideshow or proposal comes down to the text. Make it a joy to read for your audience!

2 - Quick Charts Guide

With any presentation, you need the charts to go with it. Story Telling with Data as a whole is a great resource to use if you want to learn how to effectively represent your data to your audience.

The page I pulled out of the site goes specifically into each type of chart and how to put it to use. Knaflic’s book, Storytelling with Data is a must have if you are a data analyst or work a lot with charts.

Cannot recommend this resource enough.

3 - How to Create Visual Leverage

Last, but not least, here’s an article from the site vv.media. The guy strives to be as minimalistic as possible with his visuals, while providing the highest level of impact. This article of his in particular really illustrates how to leverage your visuals and text to convey your story.

It’s a quick read, but full of A LOT of useful information. He definitely knows what he’s talking about.

This was honestly one of my favorite newsletter to write. I love making my own visuals and presentations. There really is an art to it, and the deeper you go, the more you fall in love with your work.
